Arrington Home Guard, c1941.
Image kindly loaned by Keith Bullen of Orwell.

Image: c1941, posed scene, quality of the available image (large print) is rated as 'excellent'.
Location: Unknown but possibly Arrington.

A group described to me as the Arrington Home Guard but there may also be some other village faces to be identified (see below).

Please e-mail if you can identify the row of background cottages or put any names to the faces.

It is possible that this is a photograph of 'D' Company of the South-West District Home Guard (part of the 4th Cambs Battalion) in which case the following parish organisers may be present:
   Croydon: F. Farrow.
   Arrington: W. Reed.
   Tadlow: A. Duffin.
   Wendy: S. Bath.
   Shingay: S. Bath.
   Guilden Morden: A. Jennings.
Steeple Morden: A. Bayle Jardine and W. Jardine.
   Abington Piggots: P.W. Jakeman.
   Litlington: E. D. Tilden.
   Bassingbourn: C. Ford.
   Kneesworth: W. Rushton.
   Odsey: W. H. Fordham.

[Orwell and Wimpole formed part of 'B' Company, Whaddon was part of 'C' Company.]
